Meryl Spiegel is a Long Island photographer who portrays the people, places and
things around her whether she is at home on the East End, roaming Manhattan
or traveling abroad. Her subjects range from street life to seascapes to still life.
Working primarily with a medium-format camera and color film, her images look
more like paintings than photographs.

She has exhibited widely throughout the East End at a variety of venues including
Parrish Art Museum, Art Sites, St. Joseph’s College, Ashawagh Hall, Levitas Center, Galerie Belage, Quogue Library, and East End Arts Council where she
was awarded “Best in Show."

This past summer her new series, Phantoms, was featured at Art Sites, a gallery in Riverhead that attracts artists nationwide. Photo essays from her collection, Making Contact, have appeared in The Southampton Review published by Stony Brook University. She has also received several grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

Meryl conducts workshops privately and at various venues including the East End Arts Council. This fall she will be offering Blogging for Artists.
